The conceptual idea described by Amy Ireland, behind the story of the album EXINFINITE(2025) by electronic duo VENERA, begins with Ex-1, a hacker who establishes an affective bond with a sound emission detected in the internet web. Deciphering what it is becomes her obsession; the origin of this signal is uncertain: fascinatingly elongated and granular textures, ghostly and babbling voices suggest a non-human, even alien origin
The process of deciphering and communicating with it becomes an almost daily ritual.Using an ancient Greek Polybius square, the hacker transcodes fragments of the signal and shares them on digital forums
What amazes Ex-1 is the enigmatic and almost paranormal universe of the signal, its ability to manifest beyond the screen, to alter the air, surfaces, and mood. This exchange becomes a practice of cryptesia, understood as the psychic and technical power to read hidden patterns and emit messages in unknown codes.
As the interaction intensifies, the boundaries between cyberspace, screen, and body dissolve. Ex-1 and the signal generate a common gloss of sign, a league of intersystemic empathy. Exchange across computer networks mobilizes cyberspace layers and opens channels secretly infected by a host with the plasmid cloning vector
Tragedy occurs when the exchange is interrupted by an entropic leveling forces, flattening all anomalous patterns in the electromagnetic field. In a desperate act to communicate again, Ex-1 print a synthetic alphabet through experimental software she programmed with all the encounter’s patterns: audio recordings, diagrams, encryption codes, and vector nodes coordinates
